There’s a special kitty holiday around the corner. August 8th is International Cat Day! Why not show your feline buddy some extra attention on her special day? A Bucks County, PA vet suggests some great ways to get Fluffy’s little motor going in this article.

Toys

Keeping Fluffy entertained is very important! Kitties get bored and restless with nothing to do. Make sure your furball always has plenty of toys to pounce on and push under the couch. You may need to experiment a bit to see what your furry pal likes best. Some cats prefer crinkly toys, while others like balls or wand toys.

Treats

Kitties can be finicky, but even the pickiest cat usually has a few favorite snacks. Canned tuna or chicken in water is a good bet. Plain, cooked, boneless meat, fish, or poultry is also fine. You can also offer Fluffy some store-bought goodies.

Catnip

No surprises here: Fluffy is adorable when she is enjoying having her favorite plant. Of course, not all of our feline friends like catnip. If your kitty isn’t purrticularly impressed by it, offer her a bit of honeysuckle instead.

Boxes

Who said that kitties have expensive taste? Fluffy may be just as thrilled with a simple cardboard box as she would be with a fancy tower. In fact, our feline pals have been known to ignore nice things and go for shoeboxes instead. Did we mention that cats are complicated?

Playtime

Your furball will slow down as she ages, but she will always be a kitten at heart. Carve out some time for playing with Fluffy! Pouncing and jumping are great for cats physically. This will probably put a smile on your face as well.

Window Seat

Another way to spoil your cute pet? Get her a window seat with a good view. Your furball may spend hours each day just birdwatching and sunbathing.

Grooming Session

Cats are very diligent about keeping up with their beauty routines, but that doesn’t mean they can’t use some help here. Take a few minutes to brush your furry little buddy.

Veterinary Appointment

While Fluffy would rather spend the day napping, it is important for her to see her doctor regularly. Make an appointment for your kitty!
